The Big Give: Strengthening Our Communities & Employee Experience

September 25th, 2023

Last year, The Bonadio Group (TBG) launched a new program, The Big Give, to further encourage community involvement across the firm. This program was created in conjunction with our annual firmwide volunteer event, Purpose Day, to provide our People with the opportunity to volunteer and raise money for non-profit organizations throughout the month of August. For each hour an individual spent volunteering, The Bonadio Foundation awarded that organization a cash grant.

As a result of this effort, our firm contributed to 15 different organizations across New York State, totaling $3,785. With nearly 200 hours of community service put forth by our volunteers, on top of the service completed as a part of Purpose Day, this initiative proved to be a great success. Overall, this program built upon our existing community service efforts and continued our firm’s impact in the areas we live and work.

Kelsey Dempsey, Manager within our Assurance Service Line, has been an integral part of the firm’s community involvement efforts and was the leading organizer of The Big Give. “I’m really proud of The Big Give’s success and appreciate being encouraged by leadership as I worked to make the concept a reality,” shared Kelsey. “This program truly allows each employee to feel supported by the firm as they give back to their communities.”

The Big Give is Back!

As a testament to our commitment to strengthening our communities (and to the inaugural program’s success!), we are bringing back The Big Give for a second year. This year’s program will run from October 1st to December 31st.

However, this year, we are introducing a new spin on the program with the addition of some friendly competition. PROMISE Teams, which are small groups of employees who collaborate on career development and mentoring, will have the chance to compete against one another to raise even more money for their organizations. The PROMISE Team with the most hours of community service will triple their contribution to the organizations of their choice, the second-place team will receive double their contribution, and the third-place team will receive 1.5 times their contribution.

“This year’s program is not only aimed at helping our communities, but also enhancing our employee experience. With the addition of the PROMISE Team competition, each employee will have the opportunity to further connect with their colleagues. This type of teamwork and team bonding is quintessential to the culture of TBG,” added Kelsey.

Thank you to everyone who participated last year and happy volunteering to all who plan to participate this year– your generosity is not only recognized, but truly makes a difference to those in need.

If you are interested in pursuing a career where community involvement is not only encouraged, but prioritized, TBG could be the right fit! Learn more about our firm’s culture and check out current openings on our Careers page.
