$22.5M Available in Grant Funding to Increase Training in Statewide Healthcare

THE WHO

Are you a New York State (NYS) nursing home, diagnostic & treatment center, or general hospital? If yes, you are eligible to apply for the New York State Department of Health’s (NYSDOH) $22,500,000 of grant funding available for increasing training capacity in statewide healthcare facilities in NYS. THE WHAT

Up to $22.5 million, per year, is currently available under this funding. Awards will provide up to $1,000,000 per year for two years to eligible healthcare facilities. The two-year contract term will run from October 1, 2023, to September 30, 2025.

The funding is to be used on the following deemed eligible expenses:

  • Costs to recruit, hire, and maintain new staff who can provide training programs;
  • Costs to develop new and innovative training programs;
  • Costs to providing compensation to workers covering for staff who are attending training;
  • Costs related to providing paid compensation for staff who are attending training;
  • Costs related to conducting training (by facility employees or contractors)

Examples of ineligible expenses included:

  • Executive or administrative salaries
  • Travel expenses
  • Meals or refreshments for trainers or staff being trained

**This funding cannot be used to supplant existing resources.

THE WHEN

The due date for all applications is April 19, 2023, at 4:00pm. You are encouraged to apply as soon as possible. NYSDOH will review responses in the order in which they are received. Awardees will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis if your response meets the requirements of the solicitation of interest.

THE WHERE

Applications are to be emailed to IncreaseTrainingCapacity@health.ny.gov. Required attachments:

  • Attachment 1 – NYS Operating Certificate for Article 28 provider
  • Attachment 2 – Application Form
  • Attachment 3 – Project Proposal
  • Attachment 4 – Budget Proposal

**Must be sent in one email with each required attachment as individual .pdf documents
