According to the U.S. Department of Labor, individuals with disabilities make up the largest minority group in the nation. However, this group is often forgotten in larger DE&I conversations, including those related to the workplace. In fact, many employers across the country significantly underestimate the number of people with disabilities they employ. According to a recent report published by Boston Consulting Group, organizations reported an average of just 4% to 7% employees with disabilities. In reality, this number is actually closer to 25%. This gap has caused many people with disabilities to feel underrepresented as companies do not always allocate the appropriate resources. If the right measures aren’t taken, something as simple as using the internet can be difficult, if not impossible, for many.
At TBG, we are constantly working to create a more accessible work environment and website user experience for our People and clients. To better understand our website’s accessibility features, we sat down with Sarah Muszynski, Senior Marketing Manager, to learn more.
Transforming Our Online Experience
To further improve our website user experience, we recently implemented accessiBe, a website accessibility solutions software powered by artificial intelligence (AI). This tool, which was recommended by our web developer, ensures Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance as well as allows users to create a fully customizable web experience.
“This software allows users to customize their user experience not only based upon what they may prefer, but also what they may need in order to get the necessary information,” shared Sarah.
With features like “Seizure Safe Profile” and “ADHD Friendly Profile,” this tool has opened a new world of opportunity for our prospective and current employees and clients. Additionally, users are able to change the way they see the content, colors, and orientation of each page.
“Implementing a tool that promotes inclusivity and ensures that everyone can be seen and heard truly demonstrates what we stand for as a firm,” she added.
Looking Ahead
One of the additional benefits of this tool is that it provides reports on how it is being used as well as suggestions for areas we can further focus on. With this information, our digital team can always stay ahead of the game and provide the best user experience possible.
“Our #1 goal is to create a better user experience for ALL. I am really excited about these recent changes and I’m looking forward to continuing to build upon them,” added Sarah.
