Better Together: The Importance of Gathering to Celebrate Success

June 6th, 2023

A look at our annual firm-wide event

In the age of remote work arrangements, hybrid schedules and virtual events, gathering in-person has become less common than ever before. However, that’s what makes it arguably more important than ever.

The Importance of Company Events

While virtual events are likely here to stay, in-person company events are still a critical component of an organization’s culture. According to LinkedIn, in-person gatherings and events create an opportunity for employees to interact and bond with their teams and celebrate their successes. Additionally, these types of events allow employees to feel appreciated and can boost morale across the company.

“While I love the virtual event space for its ability to bring a larger audience together, there is nothing quite like getting everyone together for in-person events. There is truly a level of connection that can only be made in-person,” shared Danielle MacGowan, Events Manager at TBG.

Coming Together at TBG: & More Day

At TBG, our culture is what drives the work we do, and a major piece of our culture is gathering to celebrate the successes of our People and our firm.

& More Day, TBG’s annual all-employee event, is a time for everyone to gather to celebrate accomplishments, have fun, and take a look at what’s to come.

Danielle has been in the event planning industry for over 17 years and has coordinated the past eight & More Days at TBG.

“& More Day has been a part of TBG’s culture from the very beginning. It is so important to our leadership that we bring everyone together one day each year to share information with our firm and, more importantly, celebrate our People,” shared Danielle.

She continued, “from an event planning standpoint, you can plan a great event, but it’s about more than just that—it’s about creating an event that’s memorable, and we truly listen to our People’s feedback each year to ensure this.”

& More Day 2023

Yesterday, June 5, marked TBG’s 45th annual & More Day event! Over 850 of our People travelled from all over the country to Turning Stone Resort Casino for a day of company updates, fun activities, heartwarming stories, and lots of celebrating.

The theme for & More Day 2023 was “Catalysts for Greatness,” which aligns with our firm vision To Be Greater while looking to the future. “As we look to the future, we realize our goal is truly to be the catalysts that unlock greatness in our clients, in our colleagues and in our communities,” shared Bruce Zicari, CEO of TBG.

The event focused on showcasing how employees act as catalysts for greatness. For the 5th year in a row, we recognized our Annual Bonadio Cares Award finalists. This award highlights individuals who go above and beyond to make a difference in their communities. We heard touching stories from Danielle Fiorello, who volunteers for the Syracuse Chapter of the American Heart Association, Mike Freeman, who works as a volunteer firefighter through the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation, and Mallory Conway, who is involved with the Saratoga Regional YMCA Livestrong Program.

The winner of this year’s Bonadio Cares Award was Danielle Fiorello! On behalf of Danielle, we will be donating $4,000 from the Bonadio Foundation to The American Heart Association. Additionally, we are thrilled to share that the firm has decided to donate $4,000 to each of the other Bonadio Cares Award nominee’s charities as well!

Throughout the day, we also highlighted how our People come together to support each other both professionally and personally through the stories of Chris Amico and Tiffany Brown.

We took some time to recognize top performers of our employee recognition system, the PROMISE Connection. Congratulations to our most recognized employees; Dena Faulise, Joseph Tamsen, Jim McKenney, Amy Owczarzak, and Margaret Lally, who have gone above and beyond at the firm to help their colleagues!

And we enjoyed some friendly competition this year with, a “Corporate Feud” game and shared some laughs with comedian, Pat McGann.

Lastly, our Management Committee and several other members of leadership shared important updates regarding our firm’s performance, our strategic initiatives, and more.

“Each year, & More Day provides an opportunity to look back at and celebrate our successes as well as look ahead to what’s to come for our growing firm. I have no doubt that we will remain committed to excellence, innovation, and above all, greatness!” shared Bruce.
