Rochester, N.Y., September 8, 2021 – The Bonadio Group, a nationally ranked Top 50 CPA firm, has hired Matthew Babcock as a Principal specializing in healthcare in its Compliance Solutions division working out of the Albany office. In this role, Babcock will consult with clients and assist with the assessment of their compliance programs, testing if federal and state Medicare and Medicaid requirements are met.
Babcock served for over nine years as the Assistant Medicaid Inspector General at the New York State Office of the Medicaid Inspector General (OMIG). In this role, he was responsible for managing OMIG’s Bureau of Compliance and its regulatory activity, which included providing guidance on the State’s compliance requirements and conducting compliance program reviews of New York State Medicaid providers. Most recently he served as the Deputy Director, Bureau of Program Counsel at the New York State Department of Health where he worked almost exclusively with the Office of Health Insurance Programs. Previously, Babcock held management and legal positions in the hospital, health insurance, and managed care industries and was in private law practice representing those industries. Babcock will not provide legal services to any Bonadio Group clients.
“As regulations and requirements for Compliance Programs become continuously more complex, Matt’s depth of expertise and experience in this space will help our clients stay on top of their compliance requirements,” said Paul Mayer, executive vice president of Bonadio’s Compliance Solutions division. “Matt’s background complements our compliance division’s healthcare practice and expands the specialized services we offer to our clients.”
Babcock is a member of the Health Care Compliance Association, a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, and a member of the American Health Law Association, among other trade groups. He held positions as a hospital and insurance compliance officer, served on hospital and nursing home governing boards, and previously served as a member of the Bureau of National Affairs (BNA) advisory board for the Health Care Compliance Guide.
“I’m excited to join The Bonadio Group and look forward to working with clients to navigate the ever-changing regulatory and compliance landscape in healthcare,” said Babcock.
