The Bonadio Group Named 2024 Best CPA Firm For Women & Equity Leadership

The organization has earned the honor for several years for its commitment to DE&I

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (November 5, 2024)The Bonadio Group has been named a Best CPA Firm for Women and a Best CPA Firm for Equity Leadership for 2024 by the Accounting MOVE Project, demonstrating the firm’s steadfast commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I) efforts. The IPA Top 50 CPA Firm currently boasts 39% female leadership amongst its principals and partners, compared to the average of 35% amongst other MOVE firms.

Bonadio was bestowed the honor by the Accounting and Financial Women’s Alliance (AFWA), an organization that annually recognizes the “career fluidity” initiatives of U.S.-based accounting firms. This year’s honor marks the firm’s 11th consecutive year as a Best CPA Firm for Women and 8th year as a Best CPA Firm for Equity Leadership.

The Bonadio Group has made significant efforts since its founding in 1978 to support the advancement of women to leadership roles. In addition to offering sustained mentorship and professional development opportunities over the years, the firm continues to exceed the industry average in the retention of female leaders advancing to partner roles.

“DE&I initiatives and championing representation are critical aspects of our mission To Be Greater, and we are constantly seeking ways to elevate our female leaders through mentorship, training, and development opportunities,” said Bruce Zicari, Managing Partner and CEO of The Bonadio Group. “As we continue this important work, we are honored to be recognized for our commitment to fostering equity by the AFWA for the 11th consecutive year.”

As reported by research firm Great Place to Work, The Bonadio Group currently maintains a 91% employee satisfaction rate, compared to the average 57% satisfaction rate at a typical U.S.-based company. This is due in part to initiatives like proactively right sizing imbalances in employee work hours, offering unlimited paid time off, promoting community involvement, and recognizing, understanding, and supporting the unique needs and aspirations of every individual within their firm.

This commitment to DE&I, company culture, and equal opportunity has been recognized by several significant national organizations in 2024, including being named on INSIDE Public Accounting’s (IPA) annual Top 100 list and as a Best Companies Group Inclusive Workplace

“While it’s encouraging to see more women reaching top positions, our work is far from complete,” said Cindy Stanley, executive director of the Accounting & Financial Women’s Alliance. “We must continue to create pathways for mentorship, support, and equitable opportunities to ensure that this progress doesn’t stall or, worse, slide backwards. By staying committed to fostering inclusive cultures, we can make meaningful, lasting change that benefits the entire profession.”

The Accounting MOVE Project winners were recently honored at the 2024 AFWA’s annual Women Who Count conference. For more information on the project and to view a full list of honorees, visit the project webpage.
